2025 Sutherland Lab Updates!

As Summer quickly approaches we thought it would be a great time to share with you all of the exciting work that our lab has produced over the past several months!

Congratulations to our graduating undergraduate researchers Sarah Garner and Donna Price, who have both been valuable members of the Sutherland lab over the past few years. We wish them the best as they move forward in their careers! Donna won the Biological Sciences Undergraduate Research Award – awarded to the graduating biology senior who has shown exceptional ability in academics and research. Sarah won the Biological Sciences Academic Excellence Award – awarded to the seniors who display overall academic excellence. Sarah also won the Paynter Memorial Award – awarded to the graduating biology senior with the highest academic index and outstanding person qualities who is going to medical school.

Evelyn McQuaid and Tyana Spindle have received DE INBRE Summer Research Scholarship awards and will be with us full time over the Summer honing their research skills!!

Check out our new paper by Tania Yeasmin, Sue Carroll, and David Hawtof in Communications Biology that determines the System II WWD domain has conserved function across bacterial species.

The Sutherland lab attended and presented at the Gordon Research Conference on the Chemistry and Biology of Tetrapyrroles! Alicia and Tania presented posters and Molly presented a talk.

Allison presented a poster and Molly gave a talk at the ASBMB Annual Meeting in Chicago, IL!

Tania, Allison and Alicia gave flash talks and Sue, Allison , and Ray presented posters at the 3rd Annual Biology Research Day at Deerfield Country Club.
